David Brereton
My name is David Brereton. My GGGG grandmother Theresa Confrey. She came to Australia on the mountaineer arriving with her husband George Brereton and 4 kids. We know she was born 1800 to 1804 we think 1801. He was protestant, she was Catholic. They arrived 7th Sept 1832. George became very successful in the colony. DNA matching show that we are not related to the Cheshire Brereton side. Originally y DNA was Gallagher.

A few mistakes. My great great great grandfather is also named Edward Confrey.
He and his wife Eliza Leeson were married in 1833, not 1933.

I think your Edward Confrey is related to my great great great grandfather.
My research indicates he was born in either 1802 or 1806. He died at age 72 or 76 in 1878
He was from Wicklow Ireland. He married Eliza or Elizabeth Leeson in 1933
Eliza was born in 1810 and died in 1865. She is also from Avoca, Wicklow Ireland.
Records indicate that his parents were James Confrey and Frances Confrey (Clare).
This part of the family moved to England and then the United States.

LINDA CONFROY-MCELROY
Ancestor is Edward Confrey, b.+/- 1826 (Civil War documents indicate b. in Avoca, Wicklow), married Elizabeth Fallon b. +/- 1827 (parents Patrick Fallon & Mary Mooney) and emigrated to US in 1851. He was a hatter in Danbury, CT; eventually settling in Newark/Orange, NJ. Orig docs show name as CONFREY, but at some point, spelling changed to CONFROY. Almost every Confroy found is in NJ, while Confreys are found in CT, Montana, NY, Boston, etc.
